Sports journalism, writing & broadcast

About My Journey

Hi, I’m Carston. I’m a sports storyteller based in Gainesville, Florida. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2026 with a degree in journalism and a minor in event management, and I’m now working on a master’s in mass communication with a focus on PR and communication management. I’ve spent the last few years working across just about every corner of sports media: broadcast with WUFT and GatorVision, radio at WRUF ESPN Gainesville, and writing for the Florida Alligator, Ocala StarBanner and Gainesville Sun. That mix taught me how to tell a story on air, on the page and on a deadline. When I’m not covering games, I’m usually running, planning my next trip, or figuring out how to make a show look better than it did last week.

Reporting from WUFT

As an on-air sports anchor and editor for WUFT News, I've covered the day's sports for viewers across North Central Florida — on camera at the anchor desk and behind the scenes in the newsroom. It's where my reporting, writing and broadcast training all come together.
